Biography

Jeremy Ulm is a performer and educator based in Charlottesville, VA. He is currently interim lecturer of horn at the University of Virginia and interim principal horn of the Charlottesville Symphony.

Jeremy is third horn in Symphony of Northwest Arkansas and was previously acting principal horn of the Topeka Symphony from 2024-25. Jeremy has also performed with the Kansas City, Omaha, Phoenix, Santa Fe, South Dakota, Sioux City and Springfield MO symphonies. During the summer, Jeremy was most recently principal horn of the Ad Astra Music Festival and fourth horn of the Sunflower Music Festival in 2023. He has also participated in the National Repertory Orchestra and Brevard Music Festival.

As a chamber musician, Jeremy is a founding member of the State Line Horn Duo with Brianna Volkmann. He was previously the horn fellow of the Plaza Wind Quintet at UMKC from 2024-25, which included an appearance on Kansas Public Radio, recitals and concerts around Kansas City. Jeremy has performed with Midwest Chamber Ensemble, and as a substitute with the Kansas Brass Quintet and Arizona State University Faculty Wind Quintet. Jeremy was a student artist with the Cactus Chamber Musicians in Phoenix, AZ, where he performed repertoire such as Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 and Till Eulenspiegel einmal anders, among others.

As an educator, Jeremy is currently interim lecturer of horn at the University of Virginia, where he teaches horn, coaches chamber music and is interim principal horn of the Charlottesville Symphony. Previously, he was a teaching assistant at the University of Kansas and taught at the Midwestern Music Camp in Lawrence, KS. He has given guest classes at Wichita State University, Kansas State University, University of Kansas and Missouri Western State University. Jeremy has also performed side-by-side with the Omaha, Phoenix and Topeka youth symphonies, and given clinics to numerous middle and high schools. In 2025, he presented at the International Horn Society conference with his duo partner, Brianna Volkmann.

Jeremy is currently on leave from his doctoral studies at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He obtained his Master of Music from the University of Kansas and his Bachelor of Music from Arizona State University. His primary teachers include Alberto Suarez, Dr. Kelly Misko, Dr. Paul Stevens, Gabriel Kovach and Dr. John Ericson.
